The Wedding Diaries

Some of you have already heard about a million times (sorry!) that Jake popped the question on our New Years Eve trip to Disneyland Paris on our little balcony of the hotel room - it was literally the last thing I expected to happen! So for the last 6 months or so, I have been in full wedding mode. Unfortunately, saving for a house is delaying wedding planning slightly - it turns out that saving for both a house and a wedding is hard when you have an unhealthy shopping habit. Who knew?!

Having a slightly longer engagement, however, means I get to take more advantage of the free Prosecco, Pimms, wedding cake, macarons and so much more at wedding fairs! I’m also not the best at making big decisions quickly,  so the more venues we can visit, the better. So far I have only been to 3 or 4 wedding fairs - with a few more coming up in the Summer. Annoyingly, Jake has had to work for most of them but I love taking my mum along as well! As you can probably tell from this photo...

My favourite venue so far is definitely Kelmarsh Hall (which is just outside of Market Harborough in Northamptonshire), and is a strong contender for when we eventually come to setting the date officially. With the ornate decor in each part of the hall, the pretty pastel colours of the rooms and the picturesque gardens, it really is a beautiful place. It's definitely worth a visit anyway, even if you're just looking for something to do one afternoon!

Like any other bride, I set up my Pinterest board almost immediately and started looking for anything and everything wedding related. Pinterest definitely helps in deciding your overall colour scheme and theme, but it also gives you great ideas for those little finishing touches you never would have thought of! For example, a 'Pimp Your Prosecco' stand! I definitely have too many pins and ideas to choose from so I need to start whittling it down slightly, with a little help from Jake of course! I don't want to give anything away too much at the moment, but I am 95% sure the colour pink will make an appearance somewhere (but definitely NOT in the form of a hot pink wedding dress!). Check out my Pinterest boards by clicking the link under the 'Follow' section!

I’ve also taken full advantage of the b-e-a-utiful wedding range at Paperchase. Of course I absolutely needed a co-ordinating wedding planner, scrapbook and folder! If any fellow brides-to-be are on the hunt for a handy wedding planner, I would definitely recommend this one. It has everything you could possibly need for planning a wedding, and the pages have a real personal feel with hints and tips for planning your big day. Our next job in the planner is to put together the guest list and the (not so) fun task of planning the budget!

Lastly, but arguably most importantly, we come on to the subject of the dress. Other than watching countless ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ marathons, I haven’t made much progress in saying ‘Yes’ to my own dress. I am itching to start trying on ASAP, but until we have set a date I will just continue to stalk Hayley Paige’s Instagram on a daily basis. I am in LOVE with all of her dresses - especially the Lorelei and Leah Gowns!

Just. Stunning. 😍

We’ve got a long way to go until the big day, but I hope you enjoyed my first update on wedding planning! With any luck we will have put down a venue deposit in the next few months or so… fingers crossed!

Lots of Love,

L.A. xo
